1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Jectos is a web service for freelancers and small studios to send quotes, collect client approvals, track project stages, sign service agreements and keep records of income and expenses. It is run by Paternoster (“we”, “us”), a sole proprietorship registered in Seoul, South Korea (business registration no. 110-20-15924; owner Hanmiru Lee).
These terms are the agreement between us and you, the person or business that creates a Jectos account (“you”). They include our Privacy Notice, and, for personal data of your clients, our Data Processing Addendum (“DPA”). By creating an account or using Jectos you agree to them. If you use Jectos for a company or another person, you confirm that you may bind them.
This English version is the governing text for members outside Korea. Members who sign up in Korea are covered by the Korean-language terms.
2. Who can use Jectos
- Business use only. Jectos is for business use. By signing up you confirm that you use it for your trade, business or profession, and not for personal, family or household purposes.
- You must be 18 or older, and able to enter a binding contract, to use Jectos. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.
- Where it is offered. Jectos is offered only in the countries listed when you sign up. It is not currently offered to people or businesses located in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, or in Quebec, Canada. If you are there, please do not sign up; join the waitlist instead.
- Country choice. You choose the country where you do business when you sign up, and you cannot change it afterwards. It sets your language, currency and tax labels. If you live in Korea or hold a Korean business registration, you must choose Korea and use the Korean service.
- You may not use Jectos if you are barred from doing so by applicable sanctions or export-control laws.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your sign-in methods (Google account, email address, password) secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- On the Team plan the account owner is responsible for the people they invite, and information entered by team members belongs to the owner’s workspace. It stays in the workspace if a member leaves.
- Tell us promptly at support@jectos.com if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
4. The service
Jectos includes quote and agreement templates, client links for approval and payment instructions, project tracking, expense and income records, notifications and, on some plans, AI-assisted features. The features of each plan are described on the Pricing page.
- We may change or discontinue features. If we end the service as a whole we give 30 days’ notice and a way to export your data.
- We may pause the service for maintenance or because of outages we do not control. We tell you in advance where we can.
- AI features. Where AI-assisted features (for example drafting a quote from a client request, or a chatbot) are offered, they send the text you or your client enters, with obvious personal identifiers masked, to an AI provider listed on our Sub-processors page. Output can be wrong or incomplete. You must review it before you rely on it or send it to anyone. AI features may not be available in every country.
5. Free trial and archive mode
- New accounts get a 14-day free trial of the Pro plan. We do not ask for a payment method for the trial, and nothing is charged when it ends.
- When a trial or a paid plan ends, the account moves to archive mode: you can still view and download your records, but you cannot send new quotes or upload files.
- In archive mode, uploaded files (proofs, deliverables) are deleted 30 days after archive mode starts, after notices to you. Quotes, price lists, clients and income records are kept for 1 year, then the account and its data are deleted, after notices to you. Starting a paid plan before deletion stops it.
6. Paid plans, taxes and payment
- Prices. Prices are in US dollars and are shown without taxes. Sales tax, VAT, GST or similar taxes are added at checkout according to your billing details.
- Payment processor. Payments for Jectos are processed by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as the merchant of record, charges you and calculates and collects applicable taxes. Polar’s own terms and privacy policy apply to the checkout, and Polar is an independent business, not our processor. We do not receive your full card number.
- Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically for the same period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price until you cancel. We email you at least 21 days before a yearly renewal.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Settings, in one step. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep access until then. Fees for a period already begun are generally not refunded, except as set out below or required by law.
- 14-day refund. If you ask within 14 days of your first paid charge, we refund it in full. Outside that window, refunds are at our discretion unless the law gives you the right to one.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails we tell you and retry. If it is not paid within 7 days, the account moves to archive mode.
- Price changes. We give at least 30 days’ notice before a price increase takes effect for you, and you can cancel before then.
- Upgrades and seats. Changes of plan or team size are charged pro rata for the remaining period, as shown at checkout.
7. Your content and your clients’ data
- Ownership. You own the content you put into Jectos (quotes, files, records, client information). You give us a licence to host, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you: storing it, showing it to the clients you share it with, creating PDFs, and sending notifications.
- Your responsibilities. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to use it. When you enter personal data about your clients or other people, you confirm that you collected it lawfully, that you have the notices and permissions you need, and that you will respond to their requests. Do not send notifications to people who have not asked for them or agreed to receive them, and do not use client data for advertising.
- Roles. For your clients’ personal data, you decide why and how it is used and we process it for you; the DPA applies. For your own account data, we are responsible as described in the Privacy Notice.
- Sensitive identifiers. Do not enter personal identification numbers such as social security, social insurance or tax file numbers. Enter only a business tax number in the tax ID field.
- You can export your records and delete your account in Settings. We delete your data as described in the Privacy Notice.
8. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use Jectos for anything unlawful, or to quote, sell or contract for illegal goods or services;
- impersonate someone, or send false or misleading quotes or agreements;
- send spam or unsolicited promotions through client links or notifications;
- bypass security, access another person’s data without permission, or overload or interfere with the service;
- manipulate reviews, or publish reviews you have been paid for without saying so;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except as the law allows.
9. Jectos provides tools, not tax or legal advice
- Jectos provides software tools. It does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. Tax rates, registration thresholds, invoice and receipt rules, and the legal effect of documents differ by place and by your situation. They are yours to verify, with a qualified adviser where needed.
- Quotes are not tax invoices. A Jectos quote is a quote. Unless a document says otherwise, it is not a tax invoice, VAT invoice or receipt. Tax rates are not preset: you enter them, and any figures or reports Jectos shows (such as income and expense summaries) are reference calculations from the data you entered, not tax filings.
- Agreement templates and e-signatures. Service agreement templates are general forms, not legal advice, and we do not promise they are suitable or enforceable for your situation. We are not a party to your agreements. Jectos records who signed, when, and a fingerprint of the signed document as evidence; it does not guarantee that a signature is valid in every place. Do not use Jectos for documents that the law requires to be handled on paper or in another form, such as wills and testamentary trusts, family-law documents, court papers, notices cancelling utility service, eviction or foreclosure notices, or notices cancelling insurance, or for transfers of real estate.
- Intellectual property in your work is transferred only as your agreement with your client says, in a signed writing. Check that the wording of any template meets the law where you and your client are.
10. Dealings between you and your clients
We are not a party to any quote, agreement or sale between you and your clients. We do not hold or move your clients’ payments: Jectos shows payment instructions that you provide, and money goes directly between you and your client. You alone are responsible for the terms you agree with clients, for delivering what you promised, and for taxes on your income.
11. Intellectual property
Jectos, its software, designs, document templates and trademarks belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only to use the service, and you may not copy, distribute or reverse-engineer them except as the law allows. We may use feedback you give us without obligation to you.
12. Suspension and ending the agreement
- You can stop using Jectos and delete your account at any time in Settings, or by emailing support@jectos.com.
- We may suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if needed to protect clients, other members or the service, or if the law requires. We tell you why, unless the law prevents it, and normally give you the chance to fix the problem first.
- When the agreement ends we delete your data as described in the Privacy Notice and the DPA. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 9, 13, 14 and 15) survive.
13. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
- Jectos is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output, tax-related figures or templates are accurate or suitable for your purpose.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims arising from the service in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for our wilful misconduct, and nothing limits any right you have under mandatory law where you live.
- We are not responsible for outages or failures of third-party services we rely on (for example hosting, email, payment or AI providers, or calendars you connect) beyond what the law requires.
14. Your responsibility for claims about your use
If a third party brings a claim against us because of content you put into Jectos or how you used it (for example your quotes, agreements, or your handling of client data), you will cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, except to the extent we caused it. This applies to business customers only.
15. Governing law and disputes
- These terms and any dispute arising from them or from the service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
- Before starting a claim, please contact us at support@jectos.com so we can try to resolve it in good faith.
- The Seoul Central District Court has exclusive jurisdiction over disputes with business customers, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere. We do not use arbitration.
- If, despite section 2, you are treated as a consumer under the law of the country where you live, nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection rules of that country.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we email you and post a notice in the service at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
17. General
- These terms, the Privacy Notice and the DPA are the whole agreement between us about Jectos. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, with notice to you.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
